You could say that Cinecorp has gained his good name thanks to the success of its short films in the international film festival circuit, and now we want to repeat our success venturing into the feature film production.  

Since 2006 Cinecorp has ventured into feature films with “The Watercolorist”, by Daniel Rodríguez, which premiered on November 2008, being selected into important International festivals, such as the World Film Festival of Bangkok, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Chicago Latino Film Festival and the Sidney Latin American Film Festival, among others.

The production of a suspense thriller is scheduled for 2010, directed by Daniel Rodríguez.

Synopsis

The Watercolorist is the story of a guy, the clerk T, who wishes to fulfill his grand dream of paitining a watercolor, but is hindered by his neighbors for whom T’s dream seems sublimely trifle, something impractical, even inmoral, and who of course have a much better idea of how T must spend his time.

Told in a kafkian black humor style, which derives in the macabre, the Watercolorist is a metaphor on the ease by which we elude the defense of our most intimate essence and yield control of our life to others.

About the Director 

Daniel Rodriguez
Producer, Writer, Director

Daniel Rodriguez has a BSc. in Economics from the University of Missouri and in 2000 won a scholarship to study a MFA in Film at New York University. In his extensive business career, he has founded several educational institutions, including two universities and a community college.  

Since 1998, when he started making films, Mr. Rodriguez has produced, written and directed 5 shorts, and is a very recognized author in that format. His shorts have won prizes at the Montreal World Film Festival (Canada), the Cartagena International Film Festival (Colombia), and several national prizes.

On 2006 / 2007, Daniel Rodríguez produced, co-wrote and directed his full feature Opera Prima, The Watercolorist, film which got a post-production grant form the Global Film Initiative (USA) last year. This film has been released in Peru on 2008, and has participated in several International film festivals.

Mr. Rodríguez is also President of Cinecorp SAC, a film production company based in Lima that he founded in 1998.
